Rollback

Thursday, March 10th, 2011

As most of you will know Kill was briefly released this evening, we experienced a few problems and due to the busyness of the game at the time decided we had to make a hard decision. Although Kill was slightly bugged we have and are working hard to fix the bugs throughout the night. We have taken the decision to roll back the entire game to roughly 2pm yesterday (launch date day). We’ve made this difficult decision because we see it as the fairest option to all players and it offers a good option to fix problems to give you all the best experience.

We are very, very sorry and hope that you’ll understand that we’re doing all this to try and make the best possible game for our players. We’re sorry for any inconveniences and hope you will also agree with us that this is the best option.

Attack Integration – How it will happen

Wednesday, March 9th, 2011

As you are all probably aware Attack is due to go live at 9pm today. In order for us to achieve this we will need to take the game down to implement the necessary changes to the game.

The down time will be staggered over two periods. The first of which will start at approximately 12 noon and last for up to 3 hours (maximum). The second period will be at approximately 8:30pm for 30 minutes. We will keep you informed prior to the downtime with a notice in the game so that you can prepare for the downtime.

We cannot guarantee that there will not be more than 2 periods of downtime but will try and keep downtime to a minimum and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Kill release date announcement

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011

After a long and much anticipated wait we now have a confirmed release date for Kill. Being such an important feature in the way in which Street Crime runs alot of time and effort has gone into creating a balanced system. Kill will be released on Wednesday 9th March at 21:00 (game time). Make sure you are online to prepare yourself for what is bound to be a blood bath!

With the Kill system in place its a chance for you to get your own back on old enemies or make your mark in Street Crime history. Below is a list of some of the possibilities that Kill opens up:

  • Earn money from killing people on the hitlist
  • Take over that bullet factory or casino you crave by killing the owner
  • Destroy a crew by killing the crewboss and successor
  • Show your rivals whos boss by taking them down
  • Work together as a crew to take domination of a city by annihilating rival crews

Our kill system is unique and comprehensive. It cannot be compared to any other system available due to its complex and in depth nature. Being able to purchase, train and use over 25 weapons in 3 different attack scenarios makes Street Crime the place to be. It’s easy to reach the top, but can you stay there and see off your rivals?

Bullet Factories

With Kill being released next week it’s also time for us to pass control of the bullet factories over to the players. There are 8 bullet factories in the game, 5 of these will be auctioned and 3 will be dropped.

The 5 bullet factories to be auctioned will be listed on Thursday 3rd March with each one ending at a different time between Sunday 6th March and Wednesday 9th March. The 3 bullet factories to be dropped will be dropped randomly before Kill is released so keep your eye on the Cities page.

Insurance Updates

We have also made various updates to the insurance packages which you can purchase to help ease the pain of being killed. The updates include confirmation of what you will receive back on your next character in terms of cash, bullets, inventory, plot, and gym stats.

In addition to this the rate of health replemishment is now based on your insurance. If you do not have insurance you will only regain 3% health per hour rather than 10% per hour if you have an insurance policy. Make sure you have purchased your insurance before you pay the ultimate penalty!

Storage Box

Storage box is a new feature to Street Crime and is directly related to Kill and Insurance. If you have insurance when you die you have the option to collect your possessions immediately or add them to a storage box for safe keeping. If you choose to add them to a storage box you will lose 10% of everything you withdraw until you reach the rank of Bodyguard.

Changes to Life Insurance and other elements of the game

Monday, February 28th, 2011

This evening we have been busy making a few small tweaks in preparation for the upcoming feature: Kill. More on Kill later this week, make sure you stay tuned as we have some important announcements to make very shortly.

We would like you to take note of some of the tweaks that have been pushed into the game this evening. We made some changes to the Life Insurance plans, including the definition of what you will receive back on your next character in terms of cash, bullets, inventory, plot, and gym stats. We’ve also made a change to the way health replenishment works in Street Crime. Until this evening every user will have regained 10% health regardless, on the hour every hour. Now very much like America, if you do not have any health insurance at all you will only receive +3 health an hour, if you own any type of insurance you will gain +10 an hour. This is to help emphasise the importance of owning life insurance for players. Also please note, that this is not the only way of regaining aspects of your previous account back, but it is the most comprehensive. Other aspects of gaining your old account aspects back will become clear when Kill is released.

We’ve also added a new feature called ‘Storage box’ this will become available tommorow, when it is available we will explain where you can find it and what its purpose is.

Stay tuned for more exciting news tommorow as we gear up for the release of Kill.

A big welcome to Pinball and Slowhand

Monday, January 31st, 2011

I’d like to say a warm welcome to our first Moderators of version 3, Slowhand and Pinball. Slowhand & Pinball have the job of managing the community here at Bytewire. They have no attachment to the game and are managed privately by the Admins (us). They will be here to moderate the game from a purely non bias position and help to keep disruption and childish behaviour to an absolute minimum. They will also be given advanced powers compared to the Helpdesk members which will allow them to issue yellow and red cards to players in the chat, with punishments ranging from a 1 hour chat and forum ban, to a weeks full ban from the game. With the possibility of further punishment for serious offenders being added by the Admins. Hopefully this positive approach towards enforcing a standard set of social behaviours within Street Crime and our push with the new feature set should get people feeling really good about the future of Street Crime again.

Our apologies…now to the future

Thursday, January 27th, 2011

We’re sorry. We know we have been a little on the quiet side since the new year, especially after promising so much to look forward too and with some promises not being met. We’d like to take a minute to explain why…..! (Keep reading if you want to read about Attack and other features in development).

As some of you may or may not be aware, we’ve decided to take the leap of faith as a company and move into an office, we we’re hoping to have this all tied up and be done and dusted by the backend of last week. As many of you will be aware moving property or even moving house can be a real pain, and make no mistake moving into an office for the first time is no different! We’ve had lots of stuff to source and lots of stuff to try and sort out, never the less we’ve done all the stuff we need to do personally. However due to complications with BT (British Telecomms) we’re still unable to move into our office and use it! Big bummer for us. This is due to the fact we are awaiting a engineer to fit some sockets and ports to the premises. So alas we’re still slumming it from our own pads.

Some thing’s you can expect from us once we’re all up and running:-

  • A even more professional service
  • A even more reliable service
  • More cohesive features
  • More immersive features
  • Enhanced usability
  • All round professionalism

We will no longer be running a game out of make shift offices from cramped studies in our own homes, and will finally have the chance to really ramp up your gaming experience. Hopefully you can all understand the benefits of working together under the same roof every single day. And also the benefits of calling in testers if we need a feature tested at the convenience of our own office.

Over the last couple of weeks we’ve noticed some real unrest amongst alot of the players mostly directed towards us and the games development. We feel your frustration and can only apologise and promise you that no matter what you might think about us caring or not caring about the game. We can 120% ensure you that we care alot about it, its our little baby after all! We are continuing to work hard on developing areas such as Attack, a new interface, a new shop, Avatars and missions and although we don’t have a date for all of these just yet, they are not far off.

Now we realise that most of the frustration pins around Attack so what we thought we would do today, to show you a gesture of our intent, we’re going to give a preliminary date for launch. The preliminary date we will set is around 3 weeks, this will give us time to put the finishing touches to the scripts and fully test the whole system out, before releasing it. We can’t 100% promise that the preliminary date set will be the exact date of the launch it maybe 3 weeks 2 days or 4 weeks. But what we can promise is within 5 weeks we will have our whole new attack / kill system in place. And finally the world as we know it on Street Crime will be capable of running full circle. Turf wars, crew kills, property drops, cash blown out of the game and bullet factories under player control. Just imagine the possibilities.

Finally players that disrespect you or insult you will get their just deserves and catch a bullet! Well at least so long as you’ve equipped your character to the teeth they will!

Nearer the time of launch we will give at least a 3 day warning of the launch time and date, to give all players a fair chance to be there to fight whatever fight comes their way.

We sincerely hope you will accept our apologies and hopefully we can all look to the exciting future of the game. Stay tuned.

Christmas Competition – You decide

Wednesday, December 22nd, 2010

From time to time we run competitions on Street Crime which enables gangsters to pit themselves against each other and crews to battle it out for places in order to win prizes.

We are looking to run another competition over Christmas/New Year however this one is with a twist! We want you to come up with the idea. We have run a series of competitions such as Zombies, Car Bombing etc but we want a fresh idea.

Everyone has their opinion on what makes Street Crime good or bad, here is your chance to design a competition.

Requirements for entry
– The idea must not revolve around any other Street Crime feature, it must be totally unique
– The idea must be well documented and explained in a way in which it can be understood and interpreted
– The idea must consider both individuals and crews

If you have an idea you can post it in the forum topic Christmas Competition – You decide. Any ideas not posted in this topic will be ignored.

Merry Christmas
