Character Studio and wardrobe

The Character Studio is where you build your public portrait. Learn what trying on, buying, earning, finding and saving a look each do.

Open the Character Studio

Open Character in game to reach the studio. Its line-up has Gangsta, Yakuza, Wise Guy, Femme Fatale and Assassin Girl. These are looks for your account, not crew memberships or separate game accounts. You can create an unowned character without paying, then choose which of your characters is active. The active character's saved portrait is the face other players see on your profile.

Trying on is different from buying and saving

  1. Choose a character and inspect a wardrobe piece. The studio tells you whether it is already owned, available to buy or earned through play.
  2. Try pieces on the preview without spending. A piece you do not own cannot be saved into the finished look.
  3. Before buying, check the price and currency shown on that piece. Some use in-game cash and some use credits; eligibility can also depend on your progress.
  4. Save your look when you are satisfied. If you want a different owned character to be your public face, use the active-character choice when saving.

The studio can show a preview based on your older wardrobe. An existing portrait remains in place until you save a look in the new studio. If the studio says that an older wardrobe needs a compatibility review, keep your current portrait and use support rather than buying more pieces to force the save.

How pieces reach your wardrobe

Some pieces unlock from rank or rank XP, completed missions and gameplay milestones. The Unlock track shows the next available goals for the character you are viewing, including progress where there is a counter. Rewards can belong to a particular character in the line-up, so switch characters to inspect their wardrobes. New rewards are announced in game and appear in the studio when you return.

Other pieces are discoveries from eligible successful activities, including petty crime, vehicle theft and mission completion. A find is a chance, not a promise on every action. When you find one, the activity result identifies it and it belongs in your wardrobe; the studio can reveal it again. Do not confuse a discoverable mission with a guaranteed item payout.

Follow Style achievements

The studio's Unlock track also shows Style achievements, with a link to the full achievements screen. These recognise actions such as saving a look, buying or earning pieces, making a discovery and building a collection. Starting wardrobe pieces are not counted as newly collected pieces. Check the live achievement cards for the exact requirement and your current progress.
